Investment & Infrastructure.

The Sunshine Coast was announced as the #3 most loved destination on the planet, according to the 2023 Tourism Sentiment Index. Major public and private investment continues to add to the capability of the region, bringing capital city infrastructure to a much loved and envied lifestyle region. Sunshine Coast Council is driving sustainable growth through its Regional Economic Development Strategy. Key goals include nurturing high value industries, expanding employment opportunities, increasing income levels and growing the value of exports.

Maroochydore City Centre.

The new and emerging Maroochydore City Centre was officially opened in 2020. When complete in 2035, the CBD will become the major service centre for a population catchment of more than 1.5 million people, home to more than 15,000 permanent jobs and inject more than $4.4 billion into the local economy. Maroochydore City Centre will offer prime commercial office spaces and new retail opportunities to innovative community facilities, and premium residential apartments.

Aura – Caloundra South.

Aura is an emerging city being developed by Stockland on the Sunshine Coast. Aura celebrates the coastal lifestyle with a hinterland backdrop and prime position within the region. The community is being built over 2,300 hectares with over a third of the site dedicated to open space and conservation. The city centre is expected to have a major shopping centre, a train station to connect to Brisbane, major sporting grounds, and a 11ha parkland inspired by Brisbane’s Southbank.

Sunshine Coast Airport.

The Sunshine Coast Airport’s international runway has elevated the facility to a world-class, fully-serviced aviation precinct. The expanded airport provides a direct gateway to the region and to a greater range of locations in Australia, Asia and other international destinations.

Bruce Highway Upgrades.

The Bruce Highway in Southeast Queensland is undergoing major upgrades to improve safety, reduce congestion, and enhance travel efficiency. Key projects include widening sections, upgrading interchanges, building new bridges, and improving flood resilience. These works aim to support future growth and ensure smoother connections between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, benefiting both commuters and freight transport.

Lightrail – Public Transport.

The Sunshine Coast public transport project aims to provide a sleek and modern rapid transit system as the backbone of the region’s future public transport network. Sunshine Coast Council has undertaken detailed planning for this solution over many years. The network will provide frequent and attractive services for Sunshine Coast residents and visitors.

Sunshine Coast Health Precinct.

The development of the Sunshine Coast Health Precinct will contribute $3.2 billion to the Sunshine Coast economy and $447 million each year after completion. The precinct is anchored by the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Sunshine Coast Health Institute and Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital and incorporates the adjacent Health Hub and surrounding Birtinya Town Centre offering prime investment opportunities.
